Carl Weiss is the Executive Director of The Metro Bureau and has, prior to his arrival to The Metro Bureau, spent his entire professional career as a public school educator in Michigan. His 35 years in education include 19 years teaching middle and high school science and math as well as sixteen years as a district level administrator. Carl most recently served for five years as the Deputy Superintendent of Curriculum and Human Resources for Dearborn Heights School District #7 (2001-06) and seven years as the Superintendent for Romulus Community Schools (2006-13).
Carl is well-networked with school administrators both within the southeastern Michigan Region and across the state. While at Romulus, Carl served as President of the Middle Cities Education Association (Statewide organization of 34 school districts; 2012-13), President of the Wayne County Superintendents’ Association (2009-10), Secretary-Treasurer for the Tri County Alliance for Public Education (Wayne, Oakland and Macomb Counties; 2010-2012) and was a Region 9 (Wayne, Oakland and Macomb Counties) representative on the Michigan Association of School Administrators Council (2010-2012).
R. Douglas Pretty is an Associate Executive Director of the Metro Bureau. Prior to his current role, he served as a public school educator for 35 years including positions as a classroom teacher, junior high school principal and central office administrator in school districts in Wayne and Oakland County. From 1992-2000, he was the Director of Human Resources for the Dearborn Public Schools and from 2000-2006 he served as Superintendent of the Allen Park Public Schools.
Doug is a past President of the Wayne County Negotiators and School Personnel Administrators as well as the Council of Chief Negotiators of the Metro Bureau. He served as an Executive Board member and Secretary of the Michigan Association of School Personnel Administrators. He also served as President of the Wayne County Superintendents’ Association (2004-2005). Currently, he is a member of the Board of Regents for Baker College of Allen Park. Recently, Doug was inducted into the Allen Park High School Hall of Fame.
Tony Marasco is an Associate Executive Director of The Metro Bureau. Tony has 33 years in Michigan Public Schools including: eleven years as an Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and Labor Relations at West Bloomfield and Avondale Schools; and 22 years as an administrator, and teacher at Hamtramck Schools.
Tony has established a network of school administrators by continuing to be active with local and state organizations. Tony is a member and past President of the Oakland Association of School Personnel Administrators, member and past Chairperson of the Council of Chief Negotiators, member of the Macomb Human Resource Professionals, and a member and presenter of the Michigan Negotiators Association. Tony has most recently been appointed to serve on the Michigan Employment Relations Commission Constituent Advisory Committee.
